Subject: Building Salvage & Deconstruction Workshop
Building Salvage & Deconstruction Workshop
Thursday, 12/14 8am-Noon
Increased construction activity and housing density in Seattle and King
County have resulted in the demolition of large numbers of residential
and commercial buildings. This workshop will discuss alternatives to
demolition and ways to minimize the amount of demolition debris sent to
the landfill.
Learn about:
* Ways to maximize building material salvage prior to demolition
* Full and "hybrid" deconstruction of residential and commercial
buildings
* Commonly salvaged materials and end markets for used building
materials
* Recent research of local demolition practices and deconstruction
opportunities
The workshop will include a roundtable discussion. This will be an
opportunity to ask experts about building deconstruction, and to discuss
some of the barriers and concerns to choosing deconstruction as an
alternative to demolition.
Who should attend: Architects, Building Contractors, Demolition
Contractors, Developers
Presenters:
Jon Alexander, Sunshine Construction
Dave Bennink, RE-USE Consulting
Levi Woollen-Danner, The ReStore
Kinley Deller, King County Solid Waste
*and other representatives from the used building material industry
